Who is Sonnet Candles

January 20, 2024 · In: Behind The Biz

I thought it would be good for me to share a little more about who Sonnet Candles is. Since this blog is so new a lot of that information isn’t in this space yet. Sonnet Candles is a home and body fragrance company that makes

  • Wax Melts
  • Car Diffusers
  • Reed Diffusers (coming soon)
  • Perfume Oils

I started this business to create what I wished existed and that is a fragrance company that makes products for people who have fragrance sensitivities or can’t handle candles that overwhelm and overpower their space. I love a good candle, perfume and room spray like the next person and wanted to create a business that provided home and body fragrance everyone could enjoy.

Before I even launched Sonnet, I spent a lot of time doing research. Learning about fragrance, waxes, and the components of a candle, wax melt, diffuser, and perfume oil to understand what in those products I’ve purchased in the past may be causing me issues. What I discovered is it’s all in the ingredients. I knew that I wanted to make one of my missions to make products that use quality ingredients and create products that are as natural as possible. Because of the fragrances I use and other ingredients like preservatives etc. Not all products can be completely natural (I’ll talk more about that later) but I can create products for Sonnet as natural as I can. While I make all of these products for my customers, I’m a customer too. That is the secret ingredient that makes Sonnet different. I know what it’s like to have a sensitivity to fragrance and because of that, it allows me to know first hand whether or not an ingredient is good or not. If I have a reaction to a fragrance or any other ingredient, I don’t use it because I know if I react others may also react. This makes testing products a larger endeavor than it is for maybe other makers but that challenge is the driving force of my business. I create products everyone can enjoy. Those products are created to scent your space but not to overwhelm or overpower your space so you can’t enjoy the candle, room spray or diffuser you’ve purchased.

I will be talking more about all of this on this blog including fragrance sensitivity and more about ingredients I use for all of my products. If you have a fragrance sensitivity or you’re not sure if you do or not, leave me a comment and I’ll be happy to answer your questions.

As a candlemaker, Fall/Winter is my favorite time As a candlemaker, Fall/Winter is my favorite time of year. I love all the warm and cozy scents of this season. The problem is I can’t make candles of every Fall and Winter scent that I love. After testing and making some cuts, this year, there are 5 scents. Two that have been best sellers since Sonnet started. One scent that is making a return from last year, a retired scent I’m bringing back and a new scents that has become a new favorite. Here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming soon at the beginning of October. Comment below which of these scents you think will your favorite.
It’s common for scents in a candle collection to It’s common for scents in a candle collection to change overtime. This year sadly I am saying goodbye to two scents They are Serenity, the coconut milk and lavender scent and Relax, the rosemary and mint scent. While I love both scents changes with my suppliers has caused me to pull these two scents from the collection.

if you love Serenity or Relax grab them now. Quantities are limited. Check out the shop to buy these scents before they’re gone.

Hi, it’s been a while since I’ve shown my face Hi, it’s been a while since I’ve shown my face here. I wanted to say Hi and that I’m still here I’ve just been knee deep in testing fall/winter scents (coming soon) testing new jars and a bunch of other candle stuff that’s kept me busy most of the Summer. Whether you’re a new or longtime follower, I’m Natasha and the woman behind Sonnet Candles. Welcome, I’m glad you’re here. I started Sonnet 3 years ago as a candle brand that creates candles that don’t cause headaches and scent your space without being overwhelming. If you have sensitivity to fragrance, these candles are perfect for you. As I said before I’ve also been preparing for Fall/Winter markets/pop ups that are right around the corner and doing a small re-brand more on all of that later. I can’t believe we’re halfway through September. I’m excited for Fall and candle season there’s a lot I can’t wait to share. Speaking of Fall, leave me a comment letting me know some of your favorite Fall and Winter Scents.

Can we talk about comparison? I had to take a litt Can we talk about comparison? I had to take a little bit of a social media break because I was slowly falling into that trap of comparison and looking at where other businesses are in relation to mine and feeling a little inadequate and I needed to take a little time to reset. While I know that all of us are running our own races but that monster of comparison sometimes is hard to fight and beat back even with all the rational thoughts to be a reminder that I’m doing what I need to do just like the other person or business is doing what they need to do. I shared this quote today as a reminder to myself and to anybody else who is feeling like they’re in the same spot trying to beat back all that stuff that comparison traps us into that where we are exactly where we’re supposed to be and what is for us is for us. Even if things don’t go our way, that doesn’t mean that we quit or think that we’ve failed. But it’s to remember that sometimes our paths may not look like everyone else’s and it’s OK and sometimes we have to go slower than others and that’s OK too. In the end where we wanna be we will get there maybe not in the timeframe that we hope but it will always be on time.
